The Ministerial Advisory Council on Disability (the Council) was established in 1994 as a means of keeping Government informed about major issues affecting the lives of people with disabilities, their families and care givers. The Council directly advises the State Minister responsible for disability services. The Council, as a State Disability Advisory Councils (DAC) also advises the National Advisory Council on Disability and Carer Issues (NACDCI) who in turn advises the Commonwealth Minister for Social Services. The Council's advice to Government is based on consultation with the community and key stakeholders.
