Ms Mary Butterworth

Mary Butterworth has been working in the not for profit sector supporting individuals with disability and their families or other organisations that seek to improve the lives of people with disability.

Mary has experience living with families in the UK as a nanny supporting their children with significant disabilities. She was raised in Beverley and lived in Karratha for 11 years so fully appreciates the complexities of regional and remote living/service delivery. Not to mention some of the specific needs of aboriginal families who are living with disability.

She has sat on numerous boards in varying roles and in 2016 graduated from the Australian Institute for Company Directors course and attended subsequent courses in “The role of the Not for Profit Chair”, “Governance in the NFP sector” and “Financial Performance for NFP’s.

In January 2018, she commenced as CEO at Developmental Disability WA having already worked there in a management role.

For the past three years Mary has had a taste of what it is like being the parent of a child with disability as her son experiences a pain condition, loss of capacity, associated mental health issues and significant absences from school.
