Dr Rachel Skoss is a passionate advocate for children with additional needs and their families. She is a mother of a child with a disability (Down syndrome), so understands the journey many parents are on while trying to navigate the health and education systems, as well as the community in general. She has firm belief in the need to create an accessible and inclusive community, with specific supports in place for vulnerable people.

This life experience together with her passion has led her to work in applied research and evaluation at the Telethon Kids Institute. Dr Skoss has a focus on service delivery, with a particular interest in the disability, health, and education sectors. Dr Skoss believes strongly about the need to for the translation of evidence into policy and practice, in order to improve outcomes for children with disability.

Dr Skoss brings extensive knowledge of experience of family carer issues, research, policy, community and consumer participation in health and medical research, childhood and youth health, population health, developmental health and community health.
