Mr Andrew THOMPSON

Mr Thompson is an advocate and guardian for a man with Down's syndrome and has a long track record of supporting people with disabilities in both his personal and professional life. He is an education professional with over 20 years of leadership experience in teaching and education contexts.

As an Executive Director with the Department of Education Mr Thompson was responsible for the Department of Education's Statewide Specialist Services, which provided support for students with disability and diverse learning needs through teams of visiting teachers and support officers working with the Centre for Inclusive Schooling, Hospital School Services, Vision Education Service and the Western Australian Institute for Deaf Education.

Mr Thompson was also responsible for the Department's approach to its responsibilities under the Disability Discrimination Act, ensuring that all public schools provide safe, inclusive and engaging learning environments for all students.
