Newly appointed Chair

The Hon Simon O'Brien MLC, recently appointed Ms Jackie Softly as Chair of the Ministerial Advisory Council on Disability.

Ms Jackie Softly

Ms Softly is the mother of a young man with an intellectual disability and has been an active advocate for her son and other people with a disability for many years. She was a founding member of the Down Syndrome Association of WA in 1986, continuing her involvement over the years in a range of roles at both state and national levels.

Her extensive community service and committee work includes representation on many committees in the areas of disability, health and consumer participation in research. Jackie also has knowledge and experience in disability access and inclusion planning, disability awareness training, organisational management and development, the disability services standards and local government.

Farewell to Ms Kerry Allan-Zinner

We thank our retiring Chair Ms Kerry Allan-Zinner for the dedication and work she has done for the Council over her term.

Farewell and thanks to our retiring members Dr Lindy Gulland and Mr Keith Hayes after 4 years service on Council.

Ms Suzi Vincent resigned from council after 2 ½ years to move to Queensland. Thanks to Suzi for her work on council.
